Matt, the Guy Who Never Gets a Break Unless it's a Fracture
(Justin T. Bowler)
Justin Bowler hails from Camarillo, CA, home of the Scorpions. (Go Scorps!) As early as
5 years old he wanted to be an actor. Characters like Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood and
Luke Skywalker seemed like ideal ways to live a life. Little did he know, there was more
to acting than getting great parts… like eating… and having running water… inside
your apartment.
He was told he was going to be a business major his whole life. So, when he graduated
from UCSB with a degree in theatre, everyone knew he would be the best waiter ever.
True to their prediction, his credits include Waiter at Dennys, Bus Boy at Alex's Cantina,
and Spear-carrier in some Shakespearian play about a king. (I think it was called
“The King and I”.) On the serious side… his favorite roles include Hamlet in “Hamlet”,
Orestes in “The House of Atreus” and The Narrator in “The Fantastics”. He has never
played any of them, but hopes to, one day.
Still slightly wary of the actor's life in LA, after graduation he took a job as a producer
at a production company in Santa Barbara. “I can still act? And receive a salary at the
same time? This is all I could ever want.” It seemed too good to be true. And it was.
Destiny kicked him in the pants and sent him to LA.
Since then, he has starred in many theatre productions and originated the roles of Bob
Smyth in “Closer to Fine” and Alan Lee in “Springfield Redux”. Currently, he can be
seen performing around town in several improv shows: TheatreSports, Impro Theatre,
Ultimate Improv, Improv Olympic, and House of Cards. You might also have seen him
recently on TV in TLC's A Wedding Story, E's Wedding Altered and 100 Craziest
TV Moments, and PAX's World Cup Comedy just to name a few.
Thus far he could
not have accomplished his achievements without the following acknowledgements. He
would like to thank his family, his friends, his agents/managers, and his high school
Spanish teacher (thank you for passing me, Ms. Solomon!) for all of their support.
